Hello:  Today is a good day to reflect upon the kindness and understanding given to the members of the Blind Center of Nevada in Las Vegas.  Each day is a challenge for the blind and visually impaired.  The Blind Center of NV is there to help with the challenges by giving independent living skills training, Braille instruction, computer classes, educational programs, job training, and much more.

A nutritious lunch is served each day, and for some members, that may be the only meal of the day.  On special occasions, such as certain Holidays, dinner and entertainment is also provided.

We must remember that being blind or visually impaired means that a little extra help may be needed to go shopping, read a bill or letter, help in choosing an outfit for the day, preparing a meal, or going out.  If we all can help someone in any facet of life, then these acts of kindness will never go unanswered.

For more information on member services and programs, please call the Blind Center of Nevada at (702) 642-6000.  The Blind Center of NV is located at 1001 N. Bruce Street, Las Vegas, NV 89101.  The fax number is (702) 649-6739.  Please visit our website listed below.

Hello:  At the Blind Center of Nevada in Las Vegas, we keep E-waste out of the Nevada landfills by refurbishing and recycling Computers and Electronic equipment.  Blind and visually disabled people are employed because of this, and members of the Blind Center enjoy free services and programs because of our Recycling efforts.

More than that, there is a bit of sunshine out there for everyone who gives and who receives.  Giving to others doesn’t necessarily mean something that costs money; but you can give love, trust, hope, joy, a smile, a moment of your time to listen, a cheerful thought, and just being there for someone.

The Blind Center of Nevada gives all of the above, and much more, to the members who are blind and visually impaired.  Let us all thank the Blind Center by supporting their programs and their mission by your donations of computers/electronic equipment, monetary donations, food donations, eyeglass donations, and in any other way that would be beneficial to the members.

Please remember, there is joy in receiving, but more joy in giving!

Hello:  On July 14, 2009, Senior Management of the Blind Center of Nevada in Las Vegas went to San Jose, California to attend a two-day event hosted by eBay and PayPal, along with the eBay Green Team and eBay Foundation.

Day One included Senior Management Teams from the Blind Center of Nevada at the eBay Cafe and the PayPal Campus Cafe showing adaptive technology, screen reader computer technology, and talking about the Computer/Electronic Recycling Event the next day.  The Blind Center also met with eBay’s Task Team on accessibility and showed the Engineers the adaptive technology that is used by visually impaired employees at the Blind Center.

On Day Two, there were two Computer/Electronic Recycling Events held from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm; one being held at the eBay campus and the other at the PayPal campus.  The Blind Center collected over 8,000 pounds of electronic waste, which will be kept out of the Nevada landfills.
